Today’s Apple Event Was Full Of Ups And Downs
Today, We saw a different version of Apple.
Apple Events are normally seen to be very hyped up and full of surprises, But today’s apple event was full of ups and downs.
The Event started off by discussing an important issue, The FBI debate on opening backdoor to the iPhone. Apple bluntly said that it would not be opening doors for anybody to the iPhone. User Privacy is the most important thing.
The Event then moved on to discuss how Apple is taking major steps to ensure production on 100% renewable energy. They’ve also launched a recycling program named “Apple Renew”. Also, CareKit has been introduced to help developers develop amazing apps in co-operation with HealthKit. The event went downhill after this, As they kept on discussing about environment and health and about their various initiatives.
The event then proceeded to the products.
Apple Watch is getting several new bands and a price cut (300$ now), New TV OS and iOS 9.3 are also arriving today.
The focus then shifted to iPhone. Apple claimed that they’ve sold over 30 million 4 inch iPhones in 2015, And hence justifying the presence and need for a new 4-inch iPhone with updated specs named “iPhone SE”. The iPhone SE has all the specs of the iPhone 6s including the 12 MegaPixel iSight Camera with Live Photos and Retina Flash. The iPhone SE also starts at just 400$ (16Gb), The cheapest price that any iPhone has ever been introduced at.
The iPhone SE appears to be pretty unimpressive to me, Due to the fact that it carries the same old design of the iPhone 5S and fails to stand out.
Probably the single most important thing in this event was the introduction of the new 9.7 inch iPad Pro. The new iPad Pro has all the updated specs, accessories (including Apple pencil and type cover), a 12 MegaPixel camera with flash and also a new ‘true-tone’ display technology. Also, for the first time ever, the iPad Pro will be having a 256 Gb storage option for power users. To add upto it , The new lightning USB adapter and the SD card reader can now get your iPad online using an ethernet cable and transfer photos from your camera directly. The new iPad Pro will start at 599$ for the 32Gb storage option.
New updated MacBooks were also expected but were nowhere to be seen.
As Apple’s line up is getting broader, It is getting more and more confusing and cumbersome for buyers to decide. Apple is currently selling 5 different models of iPhone and 4 different models of iPad.
Apple really needs to slim it’s line up a bit , Just like the old times.
