Twitter Is Ditching The 140 Character Limit
Looks like Twitter wants to change what has made it “Twitter”. The famous (and infamous) 140 character limit for posts is reportedly being ditched by Twitter Inc.
The company already removed its character limit from direct messages last month, so it wouldn’t be a surprising move as the company has been testing lots of changes in recent months, like changing the iconic ‘favorite’ button.
A current Twitter employee reportedly told Recode:
“People have been very precious at Twitter about what Twitter can be and how much it can be evolved. Having Jack come in and say it’s okay makes all the difference in the world.”
Many external platforms like OneShot already allow people to tweet longer text posts but not native tweets that we will be seeing for the first time.
This is certainly a very big news for all the tweeters who have been bounded by the limited text space and were unable to express their strong emotions against the trending issues. While some of you may agree that this is a good decision, I strongly disagree. A company should never remove it’s core feature, The very feature that made it this popular that it is worth billions of dollars. While, This may turn out to be good, All we can do is wait.
But from now onwards, get ready for this :-
